How to use Echopen
The ECHOPEN computer can't read what I write - what's wrong?
If the EchoPen computer doesn't seem to understand what you're doing, ask yourself these questions:
Are you holding the echopen computer correctly?
If you tilt it too much in any direction, the camera next to the pen point can't see what you're writing. Point the speaker away from you and don't let the EchoPen computer lean too close to the paper. Use <<Find the Best Angle>> on <<PRACTICING ECHO™ TYPE>> to practice holding the EchoPen computer correctly.
Is your finger blocking the camera?
Keep your fingers above the plastic ring near the pen point. You can also clean the camera lens with a cotton swab and some glass cleaner if you think it's gotten dirty.
Is the battery low?
The EchoPen computer will warn you when you need to change the battery. See the User Guide for instructions.
Are you writing clearly enough?
For best results, press firmly and write neat capital letters, using the fewest strokes possible. Don't connect your letters (like cursive), just print. Don't write too fast or too slow, and don't go back to correct your letters. Use the <<PRACTICING ECHO™ TYPE>> page to perfect your technique.
